Tattoo Aftercare Guide

Traditional Bandage (i.e. Tattoo Armor or Dry-Lock Bandage)

  • Remove bandage the next morning or when you get home, wash the tattoo with fragrance-free soap. Avoid using washcloths and towels while the tattoo is fresh. Do not re-bandage.

  • Wash your tattoo daily and apply a small amount of ointment 3-4 times daily for two weeks. Once the tattoo has finished peeling, moisturize with fragrance-free lotion 2-3 times a day.

  • Keep your tattoo out of the sun and avoid swimming or baths for a month or until fully healed. Once your tattoo has finished healing, use sunscreen to preserve the quality of your tattoo.

Second Skin Bandage (i.e. Dermshield or Saniderm)

  • Remove the Second Skin carefully in the shower after 3-5 days. Remove sooner only if the bandage is damaged or significantly peeling off. Avoid excessively exposing the bandage to water.

  • Wash your tattoo daily and apply fragrance-free lotion to your tattoo 2-3 times a day for two weeks. Use ointment for any scabs.

  • Keep your tattoo out of the sun and avoid swimming or baths for a month or until fully healed. Once your tattoo has finished healing, use sunscreen to preserve the quality of your tattoo.
